Livelihood and Income Generation
Women are predominantly responsible for the day-to-day management of households, handling tasks such as cooking, cleaning, child-rearing, and taking care of other family members. Despite their critical roles in maintaining household functionality and well-being, they often lack opportunities and resources to engage in income-generating activities. This can be due to limited access to education, training, financial services, or societal constraints that hinder their ability to participate in economic ventures.
Recognizing these challenges, a project has been initiated to improve the standard of living and quality of life for communities in Loro, Aber, and Iceme sub-counties. The project aims to empower women by supporting them in sustainable income-generating projects. Currently, the project is assisting nine community groups, providing them with the necessary resources, training, and support to start and manage their own businesses.

These initiatives not only help women to become financially independent but also contribute to the overall economic development of their communities. By enabling women to engage in income-generating activities, the project helps to break the cycle of poverty, improve household incomes, and enhance the well-being of families. Furthermore, it fosters a sense of empowerment and self-confidence among women, encouraging them to take on leadership roles within their communities.
In summary, this project is a vital step towards achieving gender equality and promoting sustainable development in Loro, Aber, and Iceme sub-counties. By providing women with the tools and support they need to succeed, it is helping to create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
